Workshop Overview

Omorfi Zoi (Beautiful life), the leading Greek website in wellness and self-improvement, in cooperation with Dr. Lindy-Lydia McMullin, organise this 7-day workshop situated amidst the gorgeous Argolis landscape.

This workshop is so designed as to bring you into contact with your potential and leave you with five basic tools to enhance your creativity, in your personal and professional life.

According to Hesiod (Evelyn-White, 1914), the Heliconian Muses who danced and sang on the great Mount of Helicon, taught him with divine breath about the eternal blessed gods and goddesses. They taught him to reason with what was true and what was false, celebrating the union of earth and sky and gaining wisdom therefrom.

Mnemosyne (Memory) bonded with Zeus (Father of all and son of Cronus) to find reprieve from sorrow. She bore him nine daughters, all of one mind, who sang in praise of Olympus and who lived close to the Graces and Desires). Calliope, Cleio, Euterpe, Thaleia, Melpomene, Terpsichore, Erato, Polyhymnia and Urania are the divine archetypes of inspiration who sweeten the tongue and bring wisdom to attend with true judgement. The Holy gift of the Muses to humankind, was what was considered to inspire singers and harpers, to draw men and women out of the heaviness and despair of earthly life; they reminded them of the glorious memory of how at the first, gods, the earth, rivers the sea, stars and the heavens came to be.

Also, create cards that portray the symbols we receive for each of the Muses, Desires and Graces and create a personal and professional map that outlines goals and inspiration

Day 3Local Tours & Lectures

Today pack you day-backpack as we have designed a day of excursions for you. Our first stop is Ancient Epidavros with the Asklepeio, the famous healing centre of the ancient world. Our Certified Guide will tell you all about the magnificent structures that make this unique archeologically site. What is the mystery behind the Abaton and the Tholon? What socio-political conditions facilitated the evolution of the Epidavros Theatre?

As the sun climbs up we go under the shade, at a model Organic Olive Oil Domain. We learn about the history, the life-cycle and harvesting of this sacred tree. We witness the stages of production and from our host we learn about the bottling process. If the weather allows, we will be gathering under the olive trees for a tasty savoury snack, celebrating this amazing ‘natural juice’.

After a good lunch and some siesta, we meet with Lindy-Lydia McMullin in the afternoon. Free evening to enjoy under the Greek summer sky.

Day 4Lectures & Optional Workshop

Today you have the opportunity to solely focus on Dr Lindy-Lydia McMullin lectures and experiential sessions all through the day. During this afternoon’s break we will be offering you the chance to participate in a hands-on ‘lost arts’ workshop on how to make homemade: Goat’s Yogurt; Coughing Syrup or Traditional Spoon Sweets.

Day 5Lectures & Nafplio Walking Tour

Today you will have lectures and practice with Dr Lindy-Lydia McMulli all through the morning, with interim breaks!

This afternoon develops in a very entertaining way as we visit the former capital of Greece, the elegant town of Nafplio. This very romantic seaside town has often been called the ‘Naples of the East’ and not in vain, as we will discover during our Nafplio Highlights Walking Tour. Our knowledgeable Guide will walk us through monuments like Vouleftiko and the Trianon, as we witness Nafplio’s supreme architectural beauty and colourful history. We will also get a chance to walk at Arvanitia, a stone-paved seaside track with stunning views of the Argolic gulf.

At the evening you have free time to spend in Nafplio. Would that be, dinner and ice-cream under the bougainvilleas or a cold cocktail with views of Bourtzi?

Day 6Lectures & Optional Workshop

This is another full day of lectures with Mr. Grivas, as you continue to explore Greek Herbology issues like the ‘History and evolution of the Ancient Greek Medicine’ and the ‘Properties, use and preparations of basic herbs’.

During the midday break we will be offering you the second and last of our “lost arts” workshop. Try homemade recipes and take home what you make.

Day 8 Debriefing & Departure

After our breakfast and morning exercise we will gather all together for a debriefing of our experience: What we enjoyed most? What we would have liked to do different? and How we can make the best of our new knowledge? We have also prepared for you a small ceremony where you will be getting your Certificate of Attendance!

We will transfer you to Nafplio’s KTEL Bus Station. From there you can make your own way back to Athens or continue your travels to other Greek destinations. We wish you farewell!

Location & Meals

Palaia Epidavros

Epidaurus (Epidavros) is a historic region of eastern Argolida, Greece, and is located at the foot of mountains Arachnaio, Premium and Tithio, where -according to mythology- Asclepius was born.

The strategic location of Epidaurus, and especially Asklipio contributed to the remarkable growth of the city. The residents concentrated on shipping. The first settlement belongs to the prehistoric period and is located 12 km from the town of Ancient Epidaurus.

Nafplio

Nafplio,Nauplion or Anapli, the capital of Argolis, is one of the best known and most beautiful towns in Greece. Apart from its administrative function it is also an important tourist centre, busy all year round.

According to legend, the city takes its name from its founder, Nauplios, the son of Poseidon and Amimoni. In ancient times Nauplion was basically overshadowed by Argos, which used it as a port from the 7th century BC. The town has a very intriguing history, being under many occupations and always used as a canvas for architectural masterpieces.

Meals

The meals are delicious, homemade and healthy! Your lunch & breakfast menu is based on traditional Greek recipes. Most of the products are local, fresh and seasonal, as Hippocrates suggested. As you become familiar with traditional Greek tastes you will learn about the healing properties of food and of the way they are prepared.

Indicative Breakfast Flavours: freshly baked bread, olives, olive oil, oregano, tahini and honey, different kinds of local cheese, eggs, yogurt, nuts, seasonal fruits and vegetables and freshly squeezed fruit juice.

Indicative Lunch Meals: yemista (stuffed tomatoes and peppers), fish with green salad, goat meat casserole with macaroni, legumes, artichokes a la polita.

We decided not to include dinner in the package, to give you the opportunity to make the best of your free time, discover the nearby villages and meet with the locals! Our evening visit to Nafplio will be a great opportunity to get in touch with its gastronomic wealth.

If you have special dietary requirements you will have to tell us about them in the participant’s details sheet.
